<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><P><SPAN>The California State Water Resources Control Board is currently in the process of improving the functionality and accessibility of information residing in their basin plans. To achieve this, the beneficial use data is being transferred to a standardized digital format and linked to applicable surface water features. This layer is limited to the linear beneficial uses data, while the water quality objectives, applicable TMDLs, etc. will be released later. GIS layers contain hydrography features derived from the National Hydrography Dataset with added attribution. Nonspatial tables will contain various textual and numeric data from the Regional Basin and State Plans. Extent of the dataset will cover the state of California and the dataset will reflect the information and elements from the various plans used up to 2020. The GIS layers and associated attribution will enable the future integration of the various elements of the Basin Plans to ensure that all applicable Basin Plan requirements for a particular waterbody can be determined in a quick and precise manner across different modern mediums. Data is being managed and the project implemented using ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE technology.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV>

The BPMP should not be used for regulatory purposes or in any other manner as a substitute for the applicable Basin Plan for which it may illustrate the beneficial use designations and waterbody segments.
Attribution data underwent a multistep QC and data value standardization processes to ensure correct formatting of values across all project-specific fields. Field types, value lengths, and format were assessed and checked for through the different QC processes.
Certain regions in California listed numerous named waterbodies that could not be identified in this project. These features may or may not exist spatially in the data since there is a chance the NHD (used as a base dataset) represents these features spatially, but they will not have a waterbody name associated. Solicitation to aid in the identification of these waterbodies was made to the CA Regional Boards, but several named waterbodies remain non-identified in the dataset. A list of these named waterbodies can be found in the Missing WBs List on the Basin Plan website.
The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) represents the water drainage network of the United States with features such as rivers, streams, canals, lakes, ponds, coastline, dams, and streamgages. The NHD is the most up-to-date and comprehensive hydrography dataset for the Nation and is maintained by USGS.
