Description: Permitted Industrial Facilities:
This map shows a summary of information for each of the industrial facilities in California with an active industrial storm water permit or region 8 scrap metal permit. Since this industrial point data is updated only annually (around November) it is not realtime data and would be best used for information on industry trends or in combination with the data in the Storm Water Multiple Application and Report Tracking System (SMARTS) realtime data for active industrial storm water permits. The point data is pulled from SMARTS using the latitude and longitude information provided by the permittee.
HUC 10 Watershed Boundaries:
This map includes the Hydrologic Unit (HUC) 10 watershed size to delineate this boundary for purposes of using the map to identify which impaired water bodies are within a HUC 10 to assist permittees in providing this information in their storm water pollution prevention plans and in SMARTS.
Impaired Rivers, Streams, Lakes, and Reservoirs: The impaired lines and polygons used in this map are from the excel spreadsheet from Appendix 3 in the Industrial General Permit (2014-0057-DWQ) and only includes the impaired water bodies where parameters were directly identified (the rows in black in the excel spreadsheet). This map does not include the entire integrated report from 2010 and the associated impaired water bodies. This data is stable (minus some maintenance or error fixes that may occur) and will only be updated with the adoption of a new Industrial General Permit after the year 2020.
Unimpaired Rivers, Streams, Lakes, and Reservoirs:
This data was extracted from U.S. National Atlas Water Feature Lines and Polygons, and are the major rivers, streams, lakes and reservoirs in California that are not tied to a parameter in Appendix 3 of the Industrial General Permit. These were added to the map to provide some information on water bodies in California beyond Appendix 3 of the industrial general permit and may be helpful for identifying receiving waters for industrial permittees.
