Description: <div>This point layer represents the location of the Mid-Basin Injection (MBI) Project within the jurisdiction of the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB8, Region 8). The MBI Project, operated by the Orange County Water District (OCWD) at Centennial Park in Santa Ana, comprises multiple closely spaced wells (four deep injection wells and two monitoring wells) that inject highly purified recycled water produced by the Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS) into the principal aquifer to support groundwater replenishment and address localized groundwater depression. Because the wells are clustered closely together at the site, they are represented by a single point symbol rather than as individual well locations. This point was generated by geocoding the project's street address to obtain its latitude/longitude, which was then placed in a feature layer in ArcGIS. Coordinates are referenced to the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 1984) geographic coordinate system (decimal degrees).</div><div><br /></div><div>Purpose: This layer provides a public-facing reference for the location of the Mid-Basin Injection Project within Region 8 and supports outreach and regulatory awareness.</div><div><br /></div><div>Who benefits: Water Board staff, partner and local agencies, and members of the public who need a general reference for where the MBI injection wells are located within the region.</div><div><br /></div><div>Limitations: The location is approximate, derived from address-level geocoding, and represents multiple closely spaced wells generalized to a single point at the project site.
